Project: Snowflake Sparkle

I'd seen a similar box card on Pinterest, only with stars - not much if a step to make it with Snowflakes!

I used:
  • Spellbinders Scalloped Popup Box die
  • Sizzix Thinlits Snowflakes #2
  • Memory Box Shimmering Snowflakes dies
  • Sheena Ornamental Snowflake embossing folder
  • Spellbinders Labels 36
  • Greeting: Creative Stamping magazine issue 49 cover gift
  • Card stock: White, Glitter card in Silver, White, Violet and Charcoal
  • Clear Acetate
  • Versafine ink: Smokey Grey
  • Sticky Pads
  • Big Shot Die cutting machine

Die cut the Box from white card, with two insert pieces.

Cut some decorative panels:

  • Silver glitter 1(6x7 cm) 3(6x6 cm)
  • White 1 (5.5x7 cm) 3(5.5x5.5 cm)
  • Silver mirror 4 (5.5x7)

Run the white and silver mirror pieces through the embossing folder.

Make up the box.

Add the decorative panel pieces. the silver mirror to the lower part of the box and the glittered and white to the 3 front flaps.

The longer pieces go inside the back of the box - Do not fold down this flap!!

Put the two inserts inside the box, spaced evenly

Cut a selection of snowflakes from the glitter card. I cut two, a back and a front.

Cut .5 cm strips of acetate

Sandwich the acetate between the font and back snowflakes. This is where Acrylic glue helps as it dries quickly on the acetate.

Stamp the greeting in Versafine Smokey Grey.

Die cut with Spellbinders label 4.

Arrange and stick the snowflakes into place, varying the heights. It sometimes helps to have a dry run with some masking tape until you are happy. Don't splay them too far as you end up making a special envelope for when it folds flat for posting.

I added some of the little centre pieces from one of the snowflakes onto the acetate stalks.

Finally add the greeting to the front flap.

This card looks so much better in real life, the photos cannot fully capture the snowflakes glittering and dancing in the light.
