As soon as I saw this die I knew I had to have it! So many possibilities. I saw him looking out over a view, being all philosophical and as I had two new Distress Oxide ink pads to play with ;) came up with this tag.
Start by cutting the Umbrella Man in dark brown card.
Cut a tag from kraft card - I made my own 9 cm x 19 cm, snipped the corners and punched a hole.
Use the Oxide distress inks, Vintage Photo first, on a strip of kraft card - this will be the top and bottom borders.
Distress the tag using the Wild Honey and Tea Dye inks. I aimed for an ombre look with the darker ink at the top. You can speed up drying with a heat gun and then weight it down to keep it flat - which in my case is an old cellophane wrapper and my coffee cup. ;)
Position the Town mask so the top of the buildings are halfway, secure with some tape and using Disress Ink Gathered Twigs, sponge downwards.
Position the other half of the Town mask over the buildings and with a white gel pen mark the windows.
Cut a section of the distressed Kraft strip for the bottom of the tag.
I used a portion that had more Iced Spruce so it looked a bit like wet pavement.
Tear off the top straight edge to make a rough edge - also this has no ink, so gives a better division between the background and the pavement. Glue in place just below the Town and trim if necessary.
Take the remaining distressed Kraft strip and emboss it with the Mini Rays folder.
The definition of the rays is emphasied if you swoosh some Gathered Twigs over the inside of the folder before running it through your machine.
Tear off the bottom edge to match the bottom strip. You may wish to mark and punch a hole before sticking the 'Rays' strip down.
Stick in place and trim the corners (and top if necessary).
Now for the Umbrella Man. Using the Vintage Photo Oxide ink lightly distress him.
I picture him standing on the pavement in the rain, a car goes past and sprays puddle water over him - no wonder he's philosophical ;)
Stick Umbrella Man down over to the right, and on the edge of the pavement, leaving enough room for the quote.
Stamp the quote onto some white card stock using Gathered Twigs.
Fussy cut the individual lines.
Arrange and stick the quote in place on the pavement.
Use a soft pencil (3B) to add shadows to the text and coming from the Umbrella Man's feet
Finish the tag sponge round the edges with Gathered Twigs and add a Sisal bow.
You can separate the sisal before making the bow to make it double/triple.
